Biography

For many lawyers, the practice of law is just a job or a way to make a living. For Mr. Perez, it is much more than that—it is a calling. As a child, he and his immediate family members were involved in a devastating truck accident, in which he lost his older brother to a spinal cord injury. He almost lost his second older brother and father as well in the accident. Both were hospitalized for months. This tragedy gave Mr. Perez a very personal mission in life—to help those who have suffered similar trauma as a result of an accident.

Mr. Perez consistently obtains favorable jury verdicts and settlements in complex matters involving spinal injuries and other orthopedic and neurological injuries. He brings a passion and intensity to the courtroom, which is fueled by his genuine desire to help each of his clients to the greatest extent possible.

In 2009, the Supreme Court of New Jersey appointed Mr. Perez to the Supreme Court Ethics Committee, District VC-Essex County, and he served on the Ethics Committee from 2009 to 2013. Mr. Perez has argued cases before the New Jersey Appellate Division as well as the Disciplinary Review Board of the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey.

Honors

Mr. Perez has repeatedly been recognized for his outstanding track record for winning cases. He is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney and handles only personal injury cases. He has received the “Super Lawyer: Rising Star” award from Thomson Reuters, from 2013 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2019, an honor given to less than 2.5% of all New Jersey attorneys. The American Society of Legal Advocates recognized Mr. Perez with the “Top 40 Under 40, Litigation Lawyers in New Jersey” award in 2013 and 2014.” The National Trial Lawyers have also recognized Mr. Perez with the “Top 40 Under 40, Civil Plaintiff Trial Attorney” award for the State of New Jersey, in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys honored Mr. Perez with the “Top 10 under 40 Attorney Award” for the State of New Jersey. In 2019, Mr. Perez was recognized by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys with the “10 Best Under 40” award for the State of New Jersey. The National Trial Lawyers honored Mr. Perez with the “Top 100 Trial Attorneys, Civil Plaintiff Trial Attorney” award for the State of New Jersey, in 2014, 2016, and 2019. In 2015, the Latino Who’s Who also recognized Mr. Perez for his outstanding achievements as a personal injury trial attorney. In 2015, the American Academy of Trial Lawyers recognized Mr. Perez with the “Premier 100 Trial Attorney For New Jersey” award. The American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys honored Mr. Perez with the “10 Best Client Satisfaction Award” in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Mr. Perez is a graduate of Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. Mr. Perez is also a graduate of Rutgers University, Livingston College, where he studied English as an undergraduate.
